Wallpaper XChange
For more information on this and other programs, goto http://www.xymantix.com/
Welcome to Wallpaper XChange, an image browser/viewer program that serves as a
convenient and powerful way to set your Windows wallpaper.
What it does:
==============================================================================
It allows you to set .bmp, .gif, .jpg, and .png images files as wallpaper
It has a graphical image browser to help select a particular file, with
customizable image sizes
It offers a list view of image files and allows you to sort by name, size, date,
or resolution
It color codes the image resolutions to easily identify those with the same
ratio as your screen
It has a preview area complete with monitor effects such as inner shadows and a
glare
It has an optional caching system to make loading directories lightning quick
It allows you to easily delete/copy/rename files, and supports drag and drop
It offers high quality bicubic interpolation to resample images to your screen
resolution
It has an image viewer mode that shows the picture in its own window, resizable
to zoom in/out
It's resizable so make the directory browser and preview area large or small
What it doesn't do:
==============================================================================
It doesn't modify any of your source images - it will make a copy of any image
and use that copy for the wallpaper.
It won't do batch conversions or resamples on your images - it will only convert
one image at a time for use as a wallpaper.
It doesn't replace any of your source images, but it can optionally keep a
thumbnail-sized cached copy of images to speed up directory previews.
Tips:
==============================================================================
When loading a lot of files from a directory, you can hold down the ESCAPE key
to stop the loading process
The resolution of the image is color coded according to your display resolution:
Black = the image has a different ratio than your display
Green = the image has the same ratio as your display
Blue = the image is the exact same size as you display
This is useful as the blue-coded images that are the same size as your display
don't have to be stretched or resized to fit the full screen. The green-coded
images will resize nicely since they can be full screen and still be
proportionally sized without any modifications. The black-coded images will
change proportions when stretched, but you can chose the proportional resize
option to maintain the original proportions
Double-clicking on an image will bring it up in the zoomer which allows you to
see it in a much larger format. The zoom form can be resized to zoom in and
out. Holding down the SHIFT key while resizing the form maintains the aspect
ratio so that the image will maintain the original proportions.
You can select images from the image browser and drag and drop them into any
drag and drop compatible control. Holding down the SHIFT or CONTROL key before
the drag event will move the images instead of copying them. This allows you to
move or copy the images from one folder to another, or send them from Wallpaper
XChange to Photoshop for further editing, as an example.
Change Log:
==============================================================================
Version 0.2
Added - Right clicking on the zoom screen allows you to set the image as the wallpaper
Added - Ability to sort images in the browser via a combo box regardless of image/preview mode
Changed - The date in the list view is now formatted as yyy-mm-dd for better sorting
Changed - Reduced the width of the monitor preview graphic to devote more space to the image browser
Changed - The image browser now only refreshes after a Drag and Drop Move event, not a copy
